The centuries-old carnival of the “busojaras” in Mohács is a wonderful folk tradition way down south near Hungary’s border with Croatia. I won’t be able to attend it this year unfortunately, but some of my older photos are posted below.
The Busójárás (Hungarian, meaning “Busó-walking”) is an annual celebration of the Šokci (Croats) living in the town of Mohács, Hungary, held at the end of the Carnival season, ending the day before Ash Wednesday. The celebration features Busós (people wearing traditional masks) and includes folk music, masquerading, parades and dancing.
