Many of us take photos on the streets and in most cases we don’t run into any trouble doing it. However in some cases even serious it can result in serious injuries if you take photos of people without their consent. Even if the law doesn’t require permission it never hurts to have it.
A British street photographer got beaten and his camera broken because of taking a photo of a couple on a street festival. Laws are on his side, but it meant not much against aggression.

I don’t like to go into sophistry in photo techniques. Firstly because so many other photographers do it, I don’t want to join the queue. Secondly, there are so many different views and approaches one cannot expect everyone to follow the same rules all the time and think everyone is mistaken for doing things in a different way.

Few days ago I wrote about the photo gear theft at Hungaroring photo centre last weekend and I wouldn’t want to come back to he theft topic again. However I have to write about this too. At Sziget Festival you should also watch out for your valuables. In the big crowd it is just as easy to loose something accidentally as it is possible to run into thieves and get things stolen.

Silence your camera!

It happens more and more often during photographing various events that someone is disturbed by the clicking sound of a DSLR camera and people ask photographers to turn off the sound. The photographer often just blinks not finding the words to reply. Clicking sound is not just an effect with a DSLR camera just like with mobile phones and compact cameras. It is an integral part of the function. Many photographers however has no clue about even DSLR cameras can be silenced. More than that it is very much advised in certain situations. If it is not possible than even more routine and knowledge is required to avoid disturbing others. And no, simple because you “have to” take photos doesn’t allow you to disturb others.

Don’t overuse the fisheye lens

Maybe I should’t need to be mentioned, yet it needs as more and more people are unexplainably devoted to use a fisheye lens. This can be sene not only in the images of GoPro and other action cameras (where it almost cannot be avoided) or the use of snap on lenses, but in everyday photo stories line up a growing number of fisheye shots – often without any reason.
