Covid pandemic dominates media and our lives on all levels. Photographer community takes it devastated too. The economic effects among photography businesses are impossible to predict and the way out is hard to see for anyone.
I had a blog post roughly ten years ago with the title Rather go to drive a bus. Of course it is a tad bit(?) demagogue approach of the economic aspects. The current is none less so. However the current pandemic especially puts an emphasis on the differences of the the two professions.
The popular photo sharing website has been selling photos before as well, but they now plan to launch a photo agency service. Their slogan is “Accessing Talent” and they claim being the largest photography community of the world. Many of their users however think they joined those who devalue talent and they only want to rip off photographers contributing to the site.
Not much after Newsweek ended its print edition Financial Times annoucned they will concentrate their resources to digital editions and give them a higher priority than their print edition. If someone really feels the business reasons behind decisions then it shall be an economic newspaper.
